Clark, thanks for sharing your hard won experience.

I don't think one need be a con to get the feeling of what it's "like" to be incarcerated, any more than a civilian who accidentally steps into a firefight needs to be an infantrymen to know what it's like to be in battle.

It all boils down to this.

What motivates you?

Is it negative or is it positive?

The majority of the populace spends so much time jerking around that guillotine, noose (or at least the threat of incarceration) may be the only thing to snap some out of their stupors.

Glad your stint was only 34 months and that's telling you still have dreams about it all these years later.

Peace,

Lawrence

I found this article to be ludicrous - there's no way this "motivational" hustler could get the "feel" of being locked up. I was one of the 30 Alaska State prisoners doing time at USP Leavenworth, Kansas during the late 1960's and can speak from my own experience about this and other things.
20 years after being released in early 1970 and coming back to Dallas, TX. from Seattle I stopped at San Francisco and took the Alcatraz tour.
I, too got a spooky feeling from the cells , especially downstairs in the "closed front" cell section.
I've been out over 40 years and I still have dreams of being locked up. Some of those dreams are not good, Pilgrim and I was locked up less than 34 months.

Interesting because I was just thinking about this the other day. I have a big problem with motivation too, and have been looking to find my own "reasons why"... to get out of just being comfortable and on to bigger and better things.

The gun to the head thing never much worked for me either. I'm hoping an upcoming trip to see the girlfriend in St. Petersburg will provide a much needed kick in the butt.
