Mr. Bernstein,

Mr. Michaels' method of testing the market before he creates the product is great. Where can one find copywriters for hire who'll write books and other info products? Are sites like elance/guru dot com useful?

Thank you.

Mr. Bernstein,

This article was fantastic.

I have an idea for an info product that I would like to market to businessmen. Mr. Michaels' writing of his ad before publishing the book is the exact method I want to use to test the market for my idea.

Did he hire his writers via referrals? Is there a copywriter directory where one could source these writers? How much would such a writer cost in the current environment?

Thank you for maintaining such a wonderful resource.

Kindest Regards,
Anthony Russell

I really enjoy your articles on the great masters of copywriting. I have met almost all of them in person incuding Paul Michael in 1977 at his office in NY. He told me then he had given up smoking because of his heart condition. He also said he was a workaholic and he predicted his early demise. I rode with the late great Gary Halbert on his boat in CA. And met up with the late Joe Karbo. Anyway, one my other friends who is still alive is Harvey Brodie he, like me is in his 70's. I am sure the readers of your great articles would be interested in his "toll position" philosphy which has led him (and me)to our own personal fortunes. I found that the "toll position" is real magic. If you or your readers would like a copy of my current) "toll position" mailorder promotion send me an SASE: Mike DiBiano, 810 Saturn St, Suite #16, Jupiter, FL 33477

And don't we all want the customers to think that our 'magic button' can solve whatever problem they face?

Getting them to believe it and hit that button is an art. Oh, to be an artist!

At the risk of appearing to be the Grim Reaper, Mr. Michael has also passed on. According to Gary Halbert, his revenue generation was staggering...and this was some years ago:
